Updating Print Deploy Clients for improved auto-update security (v1.10.4437 or later)

Print Deploy v1.10.4437 introduced an improved auto-update mechanism that utilizes a digitally signed payload to verify update integrity in line with security best practices.

To take advantage of this security improvement, administrators must perform an “over-the-top” installation on existing Print Deploy clients. This means that any existing Print Deploy client configuration will not be preserved once the installation takes place and will need to be reapplied.

Deploying the Print Deploy client update

You can deploy this update across your environment using one of two methods:

• Manually update your Print Deploy client
• Push out the Print Deploy client via an MDM tool

Checking the version of the Print Deploy clients

To ensure that this new auto-update mechanism has been applied to your Print Deploy clients you will need to confirm that the Print Deploy client version shows v1.10.3104 in your operating system.

• For Print Deploy clients running on Windows: Confirm that the version displayed for the PaperCut Print Deploy Client (under Windows > Installed Apps > PaperCut Print Deploy Client) reflects v.1.10.3104 or higher.

• For Print Deploy clients running on macOS: Run the following command pkgutil --pkg-info com.papercut.printdeploy.clientto confirm that the returned version value is 3104 or higher.
