🔎 Admin console: Easy Print & Scan > Low Toner Alerts

Catch toner shortages before your users even notice. The Low Toner Alerts feature keeps your printing smooth. You can choose your trigger levels and notify your team instantly.

How it Works

Printers share their status using a standard network language called SNMP. This feature requires a few quick checks to run perfectly.

  • Printers must support SNMP.
  • You must enable SNMP in the web interface of the printer.
  • Firewalls must allow edge nodes to send requests, receive data, and talk to printers.

How to Configure Low Toner Alerts

Set up your automated alerts in just a few clicks.

  1. In the admin console, click Easy Print & Scan > Low Toner Alerts.
  2. Switch the Enable toner alerts toggle to ON.
  3. Drag the slider to your preferred percentage level.
  4. Enter the email addresses for your toner magicians.
  5. Click Save changes.

Alert Routing Details

Every configured email receives alerts for every printer. We know larger networks need targeted routing. Contact the PaperCut Support team to request this update.

Keep Users in the Loop

You can proactively warn your users before they print. Notifications can flag low toner, empty paper trays, or active error states. In the admin console, click Printer Error Alerts to open these settings.
