User Portal Update

Make PaperCut Hive more inclusive and accessible with the User Portal Update.

Overview

We’ve heard from many of you: navigating the user portal in a foreign language is challenging, and users need a better way to track their print jobs. The time-consuming back-and-forth between users and admins to confirm a print job went through is a productivity drain for everyone.

That’s why we’ve launched the User Portal Update, a powerful new feature that brings localization and a completed jobs log to PaperCut Hive. This update empowers users to manage their printing independently and makes the portal truly accessible to a global audience. No more language barriers, no more hunting for lost jobs—just a clear, intuitive, and transparent user experience.

Feature highlights at a glance

  • Localization: Adds local language support to the user portal, making Hive more accessible and inclusive for non-English-speaking users.

  • Completed Jobs Log: Provides a clear view of a user’s completed print history, allowing them to track jobs and confirm successful printing.

Explore the user experience

The update brings a consistent experience to the user portal, regardless of language. Simply choose your preferred language from the settings, and the entire interface will update. Additionally, a new “Completed Jobs” tab gives users a historical record of their print activity, empowering them with a single source of truth.

Real-world scenarios: where it makes a difference

  • Global Organizations: A multi-national company with offices in Europe can now offer a fully translated user portal, reducing confusion and increasing adoption across different regions.
  • Education: Students and faculty from diverse linguistic backgrounds can easily navigate the portal in their native language to release print jobs and check their history.
  • Customer Support: IT admins receive fewer support requests from users asking, “Where is my print job?” as users can now confirm its completion status themselves.

How to get started

The User Portal Update is live and ready for use. Simply access your PaperCut Hive user portal to see the changes. For more details, check out our online manual.

Why it matters

  • Breaks down language barriers: Makes Hive a truly global product.
  • Improves user independence: Reduces the burden on IT admins by giving users the tools to track their own jobs.
  • Enhances user experience: A consistent and clear interface leads to higher satisfaction and faster adoption.
  • Widens market opportunities: A more accessible product opens the door to new international markets.

How it works: end-user experience

  • Localization:
    1. User portal rely on language configurations from Hive Admin console initially
    2. Users can change the language for the User Portal using Language option available in user profile for the ongoing session.

  • Completed Jobs view:
    1. Relevant real time job data will be shown in Completed Jobs tab in User portal, allowing users to look through their recent print/copy job entry.

Enabling User Portal Update

To set up Local language preference for User portal:

  • Go to -> User portal and Login
    • If admin has set preferred language for the organization other than English, User portal will load in that language upon login
    • If the admin has not changed the organization language (default: English), but your browser is set to another language, the User Portal will load in your browser’s detected language.
  • If User wants to change the language, go to user profile in right upper corner -> Select ‘Language’ option -> Select preferred language from the list of languages.

Localization in User Portal

No configuration is required for Completed Jobs view:

  • Go to User portal and Login -> go to ‘Completed jobs’ tab

At the user’s organization, the sysadmin has elected to warn users when their balance is low. As such, the user is now notified that they only have a $1 balance, and this will only allow them to copy 1 black and white page, and no color pages (according to this printer’s costs per page in its assigned cost profile):

How to troubleshoot?

Localization

  • Check with your admin if you are not seeing your preferred or country/local language in the list.

  • Currently we have 13 languages available for the end-user facing interfaces in Hive, and the same will be applied for User portal

  • Currently, all languages are AI generated and under review with translators from channel/partners, final version will be available by 30th Oct 2025

Completed Logs

  • This is being built at the moment in the background , incase you are not seeing real data

  • Beta version will be available in mid-Oct 2025

  • final version will be available by 30th Oct 2025

My preferred language is not in the list, what can I do?

Get in touch with your admin, who can get the message to our channel partner to get the feedback to us. We can add new languages quite easily with power of AI!

Will my language preference be applied to other End-user interfaces?

No it will not, only admin can control other End-user interfaces such as Printer app, emails, etc. Connect with your admin to make your environment more local language friendly.

Will my language preference be saved?

No, updates in user portal regarding language preference are limited to current/ ongoing session only.
