FAQs

You've probably got a couple of questions on your mind right about now. We've done our best to answer the most common ones right here.

Why is Data Sovereignty important to some businesses?
Data sovereignty and security is a primary consideration for data sensitive customers. Data sovereignty refers to the idea that a country or jurisdiction has the authority and right to govern and control the data generated within its borders.

Australian organizations may prefer to use services and products hosted in an Australian data center so that they can maintain authority and control of their sensitive data within Australian jurisdictional boundaries.

Australian customers, working with sensitive data, may prefer using PaperCut Hive hosted in Australian data center because they want to:

  • ensure their customers’ data is protected and kept onshore

  • reduce the risk that overseas law could adversely impact their data without warning

  • minimize the risk of data being accessed by foreign entities

  • maintain customers’ trust, IP and competitive advantage

  • minimize efforts in constantly monitoring international laws and regulations

Which MFD brands are able to choose a Data Center?

All PaperCut Hive full embeddeds: Ricoh, Sharp, Kyocera, Toshiba, Fujifilm, Fuji Xerox, HP OXPD, Xerox, Konica Minolta*

PaperCut Hive lite embeddeds: Sharp, Toshiba, Epson, Fuji Xerox, HP OXPd, Konica Minolta*

* Note - Konica Minolta full and lite embeddeds are not yet certified by KM so if your customer does require this certification we expect this to be available later this year.

Can new PaperCut Pocket or PaperCut Hive customers select a regional Data Center?
Yes. All new PaperCut Pocket and PaperCut Hive customers can select between an Australian, United States, United Kingdom, or European Union data center at the time of ordering.

Can existing PaperCut Pocket or PaperCut Hive customers use the Australian, EU, or UK Data Center?
There is no migration path from one Regional Data Center to another. The only option to change a data center is to cancel the existing PaperCut Hive or PaperCut Pocket instance and create a new one. See more details about this in a later question.

How do customers select a specific data center for PaperCut Hive?
Customers need to confirm their desired data center with their Reseller so please ensure that you ask this question as part of your sales process. When you place an order, you will specify the data center choice on behalf of the customer.

You will see a new field in the order form where the data center needs to be specified.
