How to download PaperCut and get printing
Last updated October 27, 2025
We regularly get asked, “How do I download PaperCut??”. We hear you, it shouldn’t be this hard to print a piece of paper in this day and age.
The short answer: You have to reach out to your IT department to get set up for printing.
This is true whether you are looking to download the installer for macOS, Windows, Chromebook, iOS, Android, or Linux.
There are a lot ways to set up printing, and every school or workplace is different. Luckily, your IT department can help out. They may have already sent you an email with instructions to get started. If not, they usually are just a phone call away.
Why can't I just "download PaperCut"? (for users)
We understand you want to know how to add PaperCut to your desktop or complete the client installation on Mac or PC. It's frustrating when the installation isn't a simple public download.
The reason you can't just "download the PaperCut client" directly is because the process depends on which PaperCut product your organization is using, which features they've set up, what version they're running, and how it's configured.
To get printing, your IT team or administrator will provide instructions.
Your organization might...
Email you an invitation or a special link to sign into a user portal and download the software.
Install the software on your managed device automatically.
Give you a link to open in the browser on your device.
Have instructions or a QR code near the printer that explain how to get printing.
If you try to download a client directly without following your organization's process, you might not get the right software, or it may not work with your organization's printers. If you're unsure how to get started, it's best to contact your IT team or whoever manages printing at your organization—they can provide the correct instructions or resend your invitation if needed.
